Just because you're a trainer class from gen 1 doesn't guarantee you'll appear in future gens. Tamers, channelers, rockers and engineers have only been in gen 1 games and their remakes

I think they found out that people realized the existence of humans with psychic powers was being woefully underexplored, so they're quietly phasing those out, like they have with the rest of old school Pokemon's personality
