I'd argue that if healing was already made easier you may as well go the whole way and heal the player after each battle automatically, because why bother making them walk 5 steps to the npc each time if it's not 500 steps anymore. It becomes a snowball effect
Jrpgs in particular aren't cut out for mercy to the player because it exposes their flaws of being boring slow and annoying spreadsheet simulators. At least if you have bullshit difficulty in them it keeps you on your toes and you forget about the other minutia
