Ditto's BEEN getting shilled even before Pokopia, it's just that they've had to be careful with it because prior to Pokopia, its sole reputation was being the "MEMES AND PORN" Pokemon.
Now that Pokopia's happened though, and has finally given Ditto a reputation outside of "the breeding slave", expect a drastic increase in loud and proud Ditto shilling.

Yes, but that was just merch lines. The games never drew special attention towards Ditto, nor did the anime or any spinoffs.
Now with Pokopia's success, you'll start seeing Ditto be actively pushed in commercials and marketing buzz, alongside the other Kanto greats like Gengar.
Also, the vast majority of the public associates Vaporeon with sex thanks to the copypasta. What makes you think they wouldn't associate Ditto with sex when its literal core function is being "the Pokemon that can produce eggs with almost all other Pokemon"?

No matter what community I go to online, people get antsy about Vaporeon getting brought up because they've been conditioned to assume it's related to the copypasta or that the Vaporeon poster is a cumbrain.
