Startend was just a group Aqua recruited for an APEX tournament, but Cover wanted to make a big deal out of it thinking they'll win it. but they lost hard after so much hype, and Cover just pretended the group doesn't exist.

Cover has the nasty habit of forcing talents into shit they don't care about while canceling the projects they like. That combination demoralizes them and it was only after the recent graduations that they are giving them a little more freedom. Still they did let the situation in Hololive get dire before making any changes.

I guess the difference is HoloWitches has shown to already replaced previous members who graduated, they could still have replaced Kanata but it'd probably give really bad vibes and implications to other talents that you can just be replaced from projects. And for what? Selling what merch?
This not only lost money but also fucked up the girls schedules and contributed to graduations.
