She started very shy and relied too much on the scripting since she was part of the Sakura Miko Project. By the time she got moved into hololive her self esteem was pretty much destroyed, especially because she had a 3d model and yet was the least popular hololive member.
On top of that everyone recounts Miko as an awkwardly shy and socially inept person. There was an instance where marine stretched her cheeks and everyone was startled because they hadn't seen miko like that. Suisei remember their first interaction as super awkward and she was rated by Choco sensei as the most introverted member of hololive by far... in front of her.
She was escencially one of us, so it's astounding to see how she went from total inept loser into the most watched female streamer. No real advantages over others, only disadvantages.
Her model was quite mid, while others were anime 2d pirates, onis, necromancers, bunny girls, elfs, her design was not that good, saving for the triangle mouth. 3d didn't help much either, Miko does actually have a 2d model and i just wonder how much faster she would have climbed in popularity if she had access to that model from the very beginning.
Having that said, by the time she went into medical hiatus she was already closer to the current Miko than the original one, she adapted HARD and after that she slowly took over.
