Well, aomari almost destroyed Marine's career and it decimated her sub growth, so I dont really think we can call it inconsequential. Okakoro and the other reltionships work cos there's enough female energy coming from both sides, Ao was just a sex and charisma void.

They did not know each other before.
Lui joined hololive because she was a fan of Marine. They got pretty close and Lui would often go to Marine's place to cook for her even though they didn't live close to each other.

It's mostly all about the mental manipulation. She spammed Marine with messages of love and when Marine doubted her she played the victim publicly and to other holos like Fubuki in order to guilt trip Marine. She then somehow made Marine believe that she's the only person that actually likes her.

She has tried the same thing with several other holos. The setup is such that she always wins. If the other person rejects her she's the poor Ao-kun who's getting bullied, but if they don't reject her she's the most amazing and handsome person alive.
