>>108835444>this time the grift is different because it's slightly biggerNFTs had mass adoption, every single celebrity from A list to D list had a NFT project. NFTs are still used in niche circles. Nearly everybody's investment portfolio these days contains come crypto.
For about 4 years now, we've been fed the exact same lines about AI, "Oh just wait it's going to be amazing." And we wait, and then it's another useless gimmick, AI peaked about 2 years ago in terms of it's growth in productivity. My point is that AI isn't going to be this revolutionary tool which is going to reshape the world like so many promise. It's not even real AI and it isn't even close to a general intelligence.
LLMs will have probably a slightly bigger impact than crypto and NFTs, but that is simply only because governments were fucking desperate to keep the infinite growth myth alive after the COVID collapse and fed every single dollar they could into this bubble. For how much money and proposed benefit AI is said to have and we just need to wait another [insert arbitrary time to keep interests but divert critics], the dividends have been lacking. It's the same shit with self-driving cars, just 2 more years, we promise. I personally don't see how AI can scale past it's current usefulness without another research breakthrough. People who pretend that it is only going to get exponentially smarter are people who think it's an actual Artificial Intelligence (in which case that assumption does makes sense) rather than just a unique computer program that has no ability to exponentially scale without exponential resource costs.
