>>109058151>Having watched the video myself, I'd say there's no excuse for the shooting, especially the mag dumping at the end.So someone yelling "Gun, gun, gun!" when trying to arrest a previously and currently violent man and then someone taking the split second decision of "Are am I danger or not?" and erring on the side of caution to protect themselves and the people around them, that's not an excuse? I think the action itself is very reasonable. Of course, with proper communication this would have never have happened where the officers could have communicated that it was secured, but that didn't happen unfortunately. Hence why my recommendation is more resources be given to train ICE members on best practice when dealing with armed and violent criminals.
But in addition, if the twat just didn't impede law enforcement, this would have never have happened either so he equally shares blame.
Mag dumping is standard practice. You shoot until you are sure that the threat is neutralized. Basically every single law enforcement agency is trained to do this. That part, ironically, is something he did correctly. You don't just shoot once and then figure out if they're not going to shoot back or not.
>Also the guy wasn't violent at the time,Yes he was.
>his legally carried firearm was already out of his hands before he was shot and killed. Those are factsAnd the person who shot him did not have that communicated to them, they in fact had the exact opposite communicated to them. That he was armed and that the gun wasn't controlled, that's generally what "Gun, gun, gun!" means without any further clarification.
It's not negligent manslaughter.
