The only reasons it gets convoluted are
1) Anime-onlies being uncertain where to start
2) Endless spin-offs
If you just read the VN it's fairly straightforward. There are plenty of plot twists, but it is in no way convoluted.

To be fair, they just need to find the audience that wants their niche and they would be very popular. Subaru is one of the most popular Holos despite the fact that most other Holos who have a similar streaming taste are some of the worst performers. It just so happens the main audience Fuwamoco brought in are people who don't genuinely like any of their weeaboo shit.

Ruffians didn't even tune in to watch their other VN streams like Sakura Wars and White Album, which is why they completely stopped streaming them all together. VN streams are already a huge debuff and barely crack 2k views. What really makes FSN a bad choice besides the usual VN debuff, is that even if normalfags get caught by the whole Fate thing, they'll find out how much filler the anime removes and stop watching at the second hour of SoL and Shirou cooking

Fuwamoco aren't Promise, they'll hit 1 million with ease soon. They don't need every stream to get them subs just as long as it doesn't lose them subs. At the end of the day they are going to stream what they want to stream, if they really cared about numbers and all that shit outside of the sub count, they'd have dropped Fuwamoco morning a long time ago. They'd throw out Advent collabs and superchat readings. If anything, they want the subscriber goal so they can get sponsored to play VN content and all that shit.

Except when they cut back heavily on retro game streams and VN after the movein an effort to reach 1m as fast as possible. 12 months of playing Sakura Wars, a 40 hour game. 10 months of playing White Album, a 30 hour game. 6 months of playing DKC2, a 30 hour game.

Again, if they cared about that they'd cut out a lot of their other streams. The problem with committing to long games is all the FOMO and not getting to do the things that all their senpai do. They want variety. There's also the problem that they don't stream that much. The bulk of their streams are a short program that has no real value. A lot of their game streams are very short. The big JP's routinely have streams that are 4-6 hours and many of them will pull out 12 or 16 hour streams when a game demands it. Fuwamoco try that sort of stuff here and there and just end up cancelling a bunch of streams as a result which means in the end they didn't really stream more than average. They struggled to finish a game like Phogs, fucking Phogs. It's a consequence of their streaming style, not the numbers.

Why? It's doing well right now with a 9k peak and 8k average CCV. As many other anons said, FSN is popular and iconic enough that at least the first few streams will do well. They are having fun and looks like their chat are, too
If it's a matter of viewership, they just need to drop it when their viewership drops low enough - say, 5k or so. Won't be the first time they drop a game anyway
