That's pretty much like the two applications of ai art with their current limitations relevant to fanfics; pin-ups of a character in certain positions/fetishes (novelAI/SD) or big landscape/background shots where the specific details don't really matter (Midjourney).
As for implementations of it in your fics, it's basically a question of how do you place the images; do you place it in-text or as a link, do you modify your writing to accommodate the images or do you write as if they take the job of describing something. Though this is more of a question of multimedia implementation than something specific to ai art, other than the fact that you can get it to fit in easier than audio/music or video.
