Roaches mostly just react to light and the motion they feel in the air with their little hairs. They can barely see and aren't smart enough enough to tell you apart from some furniture or a tree. If a roach runs directly at you, it's because they think your shadow is a place of safety. They're just little biorobots operating off a short list of IF statements.
