Do make sure the animal is actually suffering bettelcats are great actors and may be faking it out of boredom,loneliness,or to punish it's owner I almost put mine down do to it faking a severe illness because i was 20 minutes late to feeding them it took 5 vets to realize he was faking it. this is the reason for this photo of him
