And it's ... sorta true.
Chat already knew the meme and got it in Elira's head but from a gacha game, and she infected NijiEN, who infected their Twitch collab partners back in 2022. So you can say she started it.
The meme did have 2 independent resurgences though,
- one from the ugly fuck (audio from the Fornite und Cola clip)
- one being from the German community infecting the EN side of Twitch too in 2023. The Germans knew the meme in it's original form from the Fornite und Cola clip.
In short, the meme existed before Elira. She was one of the first to spread a form of it among vtubers, but most people today probably got it from somewhere else.
