saw there's been a lot of advances on 2D to 3D conversion for images and videos
this might be of interest to some people here, since it works best on content with depth variation (wink wink)
though you need a good gpu and a vr headset (or... other ways to view things in 3D like a 3DS if you are really desperate)
image and video conversion : takes some time especially with weaker gpus but it's the best quality. Works really well now, lots of tricks to correct previous issues like horrible seams.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2947590/Deep_Desktop/this one is a bit barebones (not much seam fixing, lower depthmap res to make it run realtime) but it's also very good since you don't have to wait and can just try ANYTHING with it, meaning that if you have a good gpu and a tolerance for some jitter you can play games or watch streams with it, think of the mint vr streams...
