And religion is the exact same parasocial relationship, real or not you're in a completely one-sided relationship where your every waking thought it filled with the deity and then the deity doesn't really know you exist in any form outside of an amorphous collective of "worshipers".
What's going in with vtubers is like religion. These girls are like deities and oracles that are worshiped, given offerings, and obsessed about by otherwise lonely and empty souls. You're not just getting the Girlfriend Experience. You're getting the Godfriend Experience.
