I don't have many political beliefs at this point but one of my three main ones is that
it should be mandatory for defense ministers and at least a third of their staff to be former top-ranking NCOs. No officer school pansies and certainly no civilians. It's gotta be someone that knows what it feels like to get consistently shit on by both leadership and (depending on area) combat. Most of the people involved in this kerfuffle likely do it literally out of nostalgia for something that happened almost 33 years ago.
Arguably longer because things were winding down years beforehand.
