I managed to get several weapons in one or two tries. Another thing I don't see most people mention is that if you're transferring non-exotic traits it doesn't show up until you mouse over and see what trait you can apply so I was thinking it wasn't working because every video showed the trait just appearing instead of the normal one. Also, you do have to click the first weapon and then spam click the weapon you want to put the trait in.
