Maybe Yugo just has some lovecraftian origins. Like, he is not human and has blood lineage with eldritch beings but doesn't realize it.
Like one, if I remember correctly, MC from "The Rats in the Walls", slowly uncovering his lineage. That's why people always found him strange and that's why he has such a strange abilities. They were just dormant and Ike helped bringing them up.
