Read Brittanica's history of Japan to see how long Catholicism was there. Besides its seemingly-outright initial destruction in the 1600s (doesn't seemed to have survived underground if it went so), it looks like it could have been in Japan since roughly 1900. I guess 120 years is enough. And I guess the protestants didn't try hard enough or at all, despite the UK bring the one who got Japan to open up in 1871. Still curious how/exactly when those Catholic schools came to be associated with the upper class. Comparitively in burger land, Yale/ Princeton/ Harvard were all historically Christian (and I believe Reformed/Puritan) universities, having taught various famous theologians/pastors. But that's a very different background compared to Japan. I can only guess the Catholic church used power of money to simply create the best schools in Japan, who's elites also wanted to become increasingly Western since that's how the new ruling class defeated the last samurai in the first place in the late 1800s.

That is an excellent question.

You may be fond of two particular verses.

The first is a lost Bible verse. It was only maintained by means of a book written by Isidore of Seville in the 7th century.

In latin it is "Noli timere, puer meus es."
It reads "Do not fear, for you are my boy."

I will leave the analysis to you.
Another line I love that is not in public records goes: "Amare Revelare et Verum Te Indicare".

It reads: "To reveal love / to love the revealing and show the true You."
