I really enjoyed watching Sonny's mascot design stream today! I'll always be a rolling SWAT team member in my heart, but cuttlefish are adorable and absolutely on-brand for this autist who loves dropping random facts about cuttlefish feeding patterns and mating rituals.
His membership stream 'test run' made it pretty clear he's a hobbyist artist at best, so I wasn't expecting too much from him in the art department. Wasn't really surprised when he basically pointed at that one fanart - which admittedly is a really good design - and basically went 'I don't think I can improve on his design.' He even managed to fail at drawing a crow - but the buff chicken-crow-monstrosity sketches he came up with were actually memeworthy and gave me a good laugh. Honestly, I enjoyed his dumb negi and human centipede shiba inu drawings more than the actual mascot drawing.
I did expect the stream to be comfy, though, and I definitely got what I was looking for with all his stupid laughter at his own dumb doodles, his ill-fated but earnest attempts to work everyone's suggestions into the design, and his adamant insistence on the cuttlefish's iconic W-shaped eyes. Also liked the bit he was doing with the walkie-talkie voices; it's a nice use of microphone settings and it's fun to see people play with that when it's done in moderation.
Thanks for listening to my TED talk. It's nice to hear Sonny communicating in complete sentences again after the somewhat overwhelming baby talk in last night's Hitman stream.
