>>60031971I get a little thinky sometimes about big picture stuff that I can't wrap my head around all the way, and I'm really interested in why the human macro-organism sometimes creates classes of intentional celibates. I feel like is has to have some functional purpose to broader society. Most life has reproduction as its main goal, and an organism either "succeeds" or "fails" at that goal.
But intentional celibacy is different. It opens the door to the idea of there being other goals. I think life and the propagation of life is sacred, so I don't like the gnostic plan of everybody just not having kids so when we all die off we can be free spirits. But I do think it's good that there is a class of people willing to do that, to keep that psychospiritual door open in our collective consciousness. To say, "There is more."
