Anyhoo, Doom WAD update: I've finished the visual blockout and rough enemy placement of the final area puzzles, of which their are 4 in total culminating in a boss fight in the main arena.
Each puzzle is pretty simple, mostly going from A to B to hit one of 4 switches needed to open the boss containment cell. That said I feel happy with it, it's more interesting than throwing demons nuts.wad style at the player and also I suck at designing those types of encounters anyway.
This last area has called for a fair amount of scripting compared to the other areas/past wads, mostly in the form of sequencing sector movements together rather than 10 linedefs right next to each other.
