Quick google says:
>"A noncompetition agreement, also called a noncompete or a covenant not to compete, is an agreement where one party promises not to engage in conduct that would increase competition for the other party for a specific period of time"Since its the FTC, this only really applies to any US based companies, which EIEN is (pic related). Supposedly, this ban also nullifies all current noncompete clauses in contracts, so workers in any US companies can do work for other companies that directly compete with those they are employed by (imagine a vtuber doing art/rigging for a rival company).
I'm sure there will be lawsuits to overturn/stop it. It just happened today so it's too soon to tell what the effects will be. I don't know if people would risk potentially harming their current work relationships to take advantage of it, but the idea, to my understanding, is it will promote worker retention by having companies offer incentives for employees to be loyal.
