I like to follow amateur game development so I see this sort of thing all the time. A discord is made. It gets taken over by troony faggots. The faggots silence and or coopt and or push out all non-faggots. The person or people who are nominally responsible for whatever the community is supposedly about spends a lot of time in the discord and gets wormtongued 24/7 by the faggots who took it over. The 'thing' goes to shit and everyone in the community in general is left scratching their heads wondering what the fuck happened. Rinse and repeat.
The number one thing that any content creator in 2024 can do to improve their community is never make a discord. Do not involve your 'thing' in discord. Encourage your fans to not involve themselves in 'unofficial' discords. Shun those who partake in discord, for they carry the taint of heresy.
