>>763081764chan has a reputation for attracting some notably interesting people, and once a reputation has been established it is not easy to get rid of, even if its objectively and literally untrue in every facet. Reputation, like myths and legends, are passed around and evolve as time goes on. What starts as
>oh damn, some anons from 4chan managed to hack somethingturns into
>4chan is the home of hackers, degenerates and the mentally ill; a den of society's outcastsIn today's society, people like to paint things as black or white since it just becomes easier to process things. It's much easier for people to pretend 4chan is the asshole of the internet that wants to skullfuck the world as opposed to considering that now it's just a site for people to talk with other people over text anonymously that is mostly used for hobby purposes and entertainment, basically making it almost no different than something like Reddit or Twitter, which they likely use. A good example of this black/white thinking is people having opinions on videogames they've never played
>"Oh (x)? Yeah that game sucks man, don't play it!">"Well no I haven't played it, but like I saw a clip of someone else playing it and they said it was bad so it must be bad">"Sure it's similar to this other game I like, but it's just bad man, seriously it's not worth it">"Also the devs are horrible people so it means you shouldn't play the game because-"People are weird like that desu. It's like how people just associate my oshi with fingering herself on stream or pissing like a gun from a video game when in reality she's a sweet, kind and compassionate zombie who just wants to feel loved and praised.
