I don't know the exact term or material, but it's a a very thin layer of rubbery material bonded to the fabric rather than being dyed into it or another layer stitched on like the front paw prints. The zipper is also attached by a fairly thin thread. The rest of the material feels good, however, and the paw prints are sewn on very strongly.
