Maybe I'm just too autistic, but I'd be more down with it if she was open about being a babi from the get go than I am with her keeping up the kayfabe. Something about the idea of her breaking the kayfabe AFTER starting out feels more off-putting than a preface babi announcement.
I don't really understand it myself. Maybe it's like a quick brief before acting out a scene? A "method actor who tries to act like a character before a scene starts only to break the act in the middle of a scene"-kind of feel, maybe.
