>>98154463Sometimes meteors impact Mars just like on Earth. When that happens, chunks of Mars get expelled into space, particularly because it has less gravity than Earth.
Some of those chunks later impacted Earth. Upon studying those chunks, scientists discovered that they were made of magnetite, which is magnetized rust, confirming that there was once a strong magnetic field on Mars back when the Dino Guras roamed its surface.
They also discovered what appeared to be fossils of microbes embedded in the magnetite, as well as structures that could have been created by the microbes' respiration pushing gases against the rocks. On Earth there are microbes that feed on rust, but they most likely evolved on Mars where rust was more common and traveled to Earth through space long ago.
