>It's been a long day at work.
>Shitty weather on the way back home didn't help either...
>There's no one to greet you when you get home.
>As you grab a drink you hear seagulls and laughter coming from your little sister's room, she's still streaming.
>You figure it's better to be quiet and head to your room. You're sitting on your bed, checking your phone and before you can notice it, exhaustion has taken over and you're asleep in your dirty work clothes.
>There's a low rumble and the weight on the bed shifts ever-so slightly. Probably the cat.
>The weight shifts again and again, there's only one cat in this household and that was three different spots... suddenly the room is insanely bright, the sky outside your window is pitch black, not a single star, the pale bed intruder stands out against it, frail arms and skinny legs growing out of a baggy shirt, frozen midway through crawling onto your bed.
>As soon as lightning illuminates the room, Lisa scrambles as if she had been caught doing a crime, panicking a little, she seeks refuge against your chest, bumping your chin with her head on her way there.
>"i'm sorrdjsqdhlk" thunder rolls in before she can say anything, and sheer terror replaces her words, she's shaking.
>You didn't think to count but that was close, maybe three seconds away.
>You try to reassure the shaky mess, "It's gonna be okay". She's not convinced, shaking her head no and still quivering.
>"You can sleep here if you want, I won't even make fun of you, but at least get under the covers"
>You pull the covers from under yourself and throw them over your little sister, holding them down with one arm before she can protest.
>Lightning strikes again somewhere, this time you count.
>Maybe it's the blueish light, maybe it's pure fright but Lisa looks much paler than usual, closing her big eyes with all her might, trying to reject reality.
>You brush an eyelash off her cheek before it finds its way to her eye, thunder starts rolling. That was not even two seconds away and it's insanely loud, no wonder she's terrified.
>You adjust the covers a little to finish wrapping up the lamb burrito, your work clothes are more than enough to keep you warm.
>Maybe having that one layer of fabric between the two of you made her a bit braver, or maybe she's just that scared but Lisa does something she hadn't done since middle school and gives you a full-body hug, reaching from under your flanks, clenching both her little fists in your back. She is taller than she was then but still feels just as small with her head resting against your chest like this.
>You hug her back with one arm and start playing with her hair to comfort her, your fingers find something fluffy and brush it away.
>Her heart is beating extremely fast. You push aside the heavy braided hair so your thumb can gently rub the nape of her neck. She's starting to relax a little.
>After a short while, lightning strikes again and this time you can see dust bunnies in her hair, she must have been hiding under her bed.
>The room stays bright for longer this time around, probably a double strike or more, it's gonna be loud. And it is, right away.
>Lisa tenses up, her fists are pulling you closer, the thunder is still rolling as her long legs wraps around yours. "Well, that's new", you think to yourself as her fists finally unfurl and her hands rest flat against your back.
>"Don't worry..." you can't hear the sound of your own voice over the thunder. "Right, double strike" you think to yourself as Lisa's legs grasp you tightly, her nails would be digging into your skin if it weren't for the work shirt on your back.
>Extremely aware of her legs around you, you are suddenly glad to have the covers between you and your little sister. You keep playing with her hair, both to comfort her and to keep your mind away from what she is or isn't wearing.
>Words don't seem necessary, you let hands and limbs do the talking.
>"She is taller, but it's all legs..." you think to yourself, with said legs all over your mind and lower body.
>Some time passes. A bright flash wakes you up, you slept a little but Lisa most likely didn't, judging by her breath, but she doesn't feel as tense any more. You're still counting and barely hear thunder in the distance as you reach 12, seems like the storm has moved on.
>Lisa must have noticed you woke up and speaks softly.
>"i think i'm okay now" she says still not pulling away from you as the weight on the bed shifts once more.
>This time, it's the little stinky freak.
>"chai... not now..." the cat proceeds to thoroughly ignore the plea of her human and nestles herself right against Lisa's back, just above her rump.
>"I guess you're stuck here with me now"
>"i..." before her lips can catch up to her thoughts, Lisa gives in and buries her face in your chest again.
