Microplates aren't visibile on our current tectonic plate map because they only show the major (I think minor plates too) plates, and micro plates as the other anon just said as I was typing this up are localized plates or next to other major plates. They are called micro because they are >1 million km2. There is even a debate today about whether or not such plates should be considered distinct portions of the crust.
For the purposes of worldbuilding, It is a worthy discuss because as I said, they can add more flavour and uniqueness to nations that desire them. I do not believe in moving the major plates, but microplates are different because they wouldn't impact much beyond the local area.
