>>35593712>hoomans you gotten so conceited in your "secret agent" play that you hide your shit in rentries instead of talking things out with thread For the most divisive things i.e. early 19th century technology that has military applications, I think I have either mentioned most of them in the thread before I added them in or they have been in the rentry(written by the rep, I just merely expanded on them). And by most tech I think anons mostly just have a problem with steam vessels and breech loaders. While granted they all exist in the lore or stories in some form I do intend for them to be partial failures. I believe that technological development, nor the development of complex societies are linear. My intention of including them in the lore is also to explore how the country deals with the development of technology(also going back to how it treats knowledge) and incorporate them into their society and geopolitical strategy. This period in real life is also rife with failed ventures to introduce new technology.
I do apologize that I usaully have things buried in paragraphs of text. But they usually detail the design, history, and reasoning behind them. And whenever I post stuff in the thread I do expect people to read them and perhaps give me feedback, which I don't usually get other from rep and 3beat as far as I can tell.
>that it almost feels you jsut did that to rub salt in.I can assure you that was not my intention. I didn't even think of that when I posted it. I got the recommendation and idea to include Hoshiyomia in the steam ship project and I just remembered to mention it to Hoshi rep. Me going in-depth with it was because I never really shared much of my plans and thoughts regarding it with the rep. I also was used to writing stuff on my own, and have only started sharing my notes with the rep like a month ago.
>>35587773There are plenty of examples of countries or civilizations losing knowledge of their technology. I do wish the reps that are handling any thread that have history all the way back from /jp/ can contribute to the antediluvian lore. But I do remember that the consensus is that most tech in /jp/ runs on /jp/ equivalent of chuubanite, so the method of making them are lost. It would also be affected by how each country are transferred from /jp/ to /vt/, how much of their knowledge base of retained and whether they lost some in the process of rebuilding.
Can't find the post but for /2434/rep, technology aren't the only thing that can explain why a nation is powerful. By going to much into technology I'm worried we also rely too much on a philosophy of history that is too Western-centric/triumphantist. I recommend reading more into Oriental Economies at this time and getting some ideas about their economic prosperity.
>>35599376Mumei is sick and per-occupied with civ duties(so am I) thread's pretty dead for the past few days. Also no Monarchy.
Afsik, the rep and also me use the thread's behavior to model the personality of the people. For most of the hard factors I use a very simulationist method, they are developed from the circumstances of the world and history of the nation.
Moreover, I'm not at liberty here to decide anything unless both the rep and I are present. Plus that would mean scraping months of work and plans.
Also in regards to the spread of technology, it is subject to a lot of factors, which I'm also trying to learn. If any of you wants to read up on it I found some good academic sources.
