This time the, uh, sauce? on top was blueberry jam. There wasn't much of it at all, after opening I got a whiff of a faint tartness in the air - very nice. The jam on its own is also pleasant; tart with just the right amount of sweetness. I quite liked it and wished for more.
The icing is, of course, also blueberry-ish, and mixed in well with the jam to heighten that taste. I say '-ish' because well, its really just a whisper in the frosting. Like, I just ate some blueberry flavoured gummies and then ate plain frosting right after - it's like that. Somehow, though, it felt much lighter than Vesper's. It still held that heavy tone to it but, perhaps due to the fresher taste of berries, I didn't feel as bad eating it. It compliments the white sponge well, I think. Better than Vesper's frosting did, now that I think about it, he'd do better with a chocolate sponge. Those little puffed rice balls stole the show once again. I really liked them. Give me MORE.
All the layers together is kind of,,,,,,too much. Still. The frosting to cake ratio is way off, but unlike with Vesper's I didn't immediately go rinse my mouth out with water. That bottom layer still kinda sucked.
Overall: 6/10
Still needs more crunch. Blueberry is good, I like it. Also, that jam was awesome and this needed more of it to really enhance the flavour.
