Wedding Prologue 2
You look at yourself, wearing the cheap rental tuxedo. It's early morning, 4:00AM to be precise. It's the day of the wedding. Your wedding. Why does it feel weird saying that in your head?
You fix your bowtie, you've down this for the 30th time in the past hour. You're chugging on a good 2 hours of sleep. You're all alone in your cheap hotel room. Kronii was staying with Council, they had a bachelorette party the night before. You had to sleep separately since from this day forth you were going to live together until you died.
You sigh, you look like a monkey wearing this ill fitted thing. It was no use to worry about this, it's not like you were going to keep it. You had more important concerns. You walk on over to the bedside drawer table. Your phone.
You unlock it, your thumb flicking through your messages. You received the the usual platitudes from your family, friends and colleagues. There were dozens of 'congratulations' and 'we're happy for you'. Your siblings said they would love to come but they were busy with their own lives, your parents said the same but were more honest and admitted they were vacationing in Europe. If your own flesh and blood wouldn't come to your wedding what more than the people from your workplace and school life?
You had gotten used to it. You were used to loneliness, something you and Kronii shared in that regard. So it was out of character for you to feel glum over this, maybe it was the shame talking. Everyone who was coming to your wedding were Kronii's friends. An irony, the lonely Warden of Time, someone without family would have people bare witness to your union. A sad reflection for you to ruminate over.
Knock knock
Ah, that must be one of your guests. You put on the final piece of your outfit, Italian leather loafers, the most expensive item you're wearing and the one thing you're gonna keep after this entire thing was over.
You open the door, looking down to see your visitor. It was Bae, she was wearing a flattering strapless red dress with matching heels, even with them she was still short in comparison to you.
She looked really pretty, especially with her hair being let down like that.
"Hey! Hey! The lucky groom is needed by his bride!," Bae pulls you out of the room, pushing you eagerly down the hallway to where your wife to be and the rest of Council were staying. You see Sana and Mumei out the door. Sana dressed like a RnB singer that was going to win a music award, she wore a flowing night blue V line dress that had a long skirt with a slit, glitzy with constellation motifs and tall pump heels. Mumei was muted as ever, not too different from what she normally wore. A simple earth brown shirt dress with grey moccasins.
"Anon!" Sana shouts out in her beeg dumb voice, Mumei trying to shush her to be more quiet. Bae ushers you faster and faster until you nearly fall over from stopping abruptly in front of the door. You look inside.
Fauna is there, wearing a warm and lovely autumn orange empire dress with faux leather sandals. She has Kronii crying on her shoulder both of them sitting on the bed. You slowly enter, your bride was in distress.
Fauna looks up to you, a tired smile was your cue that whatever was happening wasn't too serious. Fauna starts tapping on Kronii's shoulder. She raises her head, then turns.
Her blue eyes look at you, teary eyed. She wipes them away along with her snot. Even like this she looked graceful.
"What's wrong?," you ask dumbly.
Kronii's lips quiver.
"I'm fatter," your face blanches, this was why she was crying?
You inspect her, your fiancé had gotten a bit chunkier with her progressing pregnancy. One immediate thing of note was her expanding cup size. You hold her hands, gently ushering her to stand up. She complies, making sure to avoid looking at the standing mirror in front of her.
She's gorgeous, the dress was tailormade. It exposed her shoulders and upper breasts, held up by a collar like neck guard. The dress had lots of clock and time based motifs with roman numerals and hourglasses embroidered into the stitching. Her veil was long and flowing covering her luscious and beautiful dark blue hair. There was a large silken blue ribbon on the middle of her corseted torso, her skirt frilly and cascading to the floor like a waterfall.
She was the very image of perfection, there was no reason for her to be so upset.
You grip tightly her hands, clad in arm length white gloves.
"You're beautiful you idiot. Why are you crying?," your blunt words cause the rest of the Council to gasp, but all Kronii did was start crying again.
You pull her closer, into your waiting arms. You kiss her on the forehead. You rub her back in your warm embrace.
There was a lot of things she could cry over, being the most beautiful thing you've ever seen in your life shouldn't be one of them.
