>>3107870the whole purpose of electrostatic drivers was reducing harmonic distortion. that was in a period before widespread deployment of neodymium magnets and modern materials usable for making planar transducers, both of which are now common. planar distortion performance has long since left electrostatic transducers in the dust and there's no performance reason to seek them out anymore at all. but if you just want to try something new because the technology is unusual, don't let me stand in your way. that's why i have a discrete resistor ladder DAC, after all, which performs no better than a cheap delta-sigma USB dongle.
