They'll say that the masses "cannot be trusted" with AI on this level, and I wouldn't be surprised if they crack down on this shit entirely. Large, actually good AI would then be 100% in the hands of Silicon Valley fucksticks. If we had even a sliver of a chance we could match them, we would have absolutely no chance now.
I've never seen a situation where outright minecrafting against devs actually causes them to give in. Right now, they have the societal power, not us. They will absolutely brainwash the public into believing AIs of this caliber shouldn't be accessed by the public if they so want to. The consequences would be dramatic, and it wouldn't favor us.
