>>31743416>do you value "genuineness" in a vtuber?I think that depends a lot on the definition. I think the best way to describe what I like in a Vtuber is more "passion," maybe? I think those two concepts are similar. I like people who have passions, and get excited about things when they talk about them. People that get invested into games while they play them, try to do their best while on camera, and treat things like they're happy to be there, doing their best. So I value "genuineness" in a Vtuber, sure, but I think it's part of the equation for me, not the whole thing.
>do you consider IRyS to be a genuine person? In some important ways, yes. I think she really does have that passion that I was talking about. She can get invested into things while doing them; the talks about anime and the way she'll spend hours beating a game long past the point where a lot of girls would've given up, like in that recent Mega Man X run, that's not something I think you can "fake." We've been doing a watchalong of an anime in member streams recently, and the way she gets so genuinely excited to show it off, that's something I consider "genuine."
I get that it's not "all of her," though. I understand what Hololive is. Vtubing as a whole, in some ways. You put on your mask and hope to be a certain "side" of yourself, but that's not usually the entire person. So do I think I'm seeing "all of her," in terms of the genuine thing? No, not really. The girl who calls herself IRyS is gonna be different from the girl who lives off-stream. But do I think the difference is vast? No, not really. I don't think any of that side of her is a lie, so I think she's genuine in that regard, but I get that it's not all of her, in the same way the me who talks to my friends is different from the me who talks to people here. Same person, but different "faces."
Sorry for the wordiness, but I wanted to answer you as best I could, and take it seriously to show you I'm serious.
