I think there are just as many if not more people who don't actually understand how "There's no such thing as bad publicity" works
If you have a radical ideology and get lots of publicity because people think you're stupid, it'll also help expose you to people who are sympathetic to your ideology, and you'll manage to pick up support anyway. However, the only way this can actually work out for you in the long run is if these people support you more than just hesitantly agreeing with you on twitter (donations, memberships, actually giving you a platform to speak etc) and doesn't work if you're just doing the same thing over and over again because people already know what you're like . People have had since his debut to agree with his ideology and despite how much "publicity" he's racking up, he still hasn't actually gained any favors, he's still not a great earner and gets lapped by his unicorn friendly peers.
