A new IP getting a set is basically a reskin of established mechanics and cards with slight power boosts, numbers, and efficiency to keep up with the times. They also aren't going to spend a lot of time designing unique abilities and synergies just for one set, since it's a very low effort but high yield design process. I play weiss casually and while I think I'm pretty decent,
my favorite pet deck is a Mel/Aki focused deck, the game at a competitive level has a few glaring flaws due to standby just existing.
