Mary would've probably been given into marriage to Joseph at around the age of marriageability, which was puberty, but they were not to do anything until much later, at least until 15-17, for Joseph had been a trained carpenter capable of taking up work by the time of Jesus's birth, hence he'd need to have been at least old enough for that which was more than the 12-14 years old you brought up
Jesus's mother Mary, was indeed a young woman when she had Him, but she was not pubescent
Also that was then, the word of God tells us to follow the law of man, lest it cause us to sin, so if they reached the age at which conception of life were possible, then it would be fine, lest the law of man should forbid it, and they wouldn't be committing sexual immorality, as was written in the law of Moses
