I think if you cultivate an audience through collabs with other large vtuber names where you crowd source content from viewers (YLYL, reading viewer submitted stories, room reviews, etc), you're attracting an audience that enjoys the potential for interaction (just chatting) or being noticed (funny viewer submitted story, roast, video submission, room, etc, etc) it shouldn't be surprising when that audience isn't as interested in watching you play video games. It doesn't necessarily mean you're boring, but your audience came to you for a certain product, socialization/parasocal feelings, and you're presenting them with another, video games which probably take your attention away from chat.
