Then there was the entire sub-plot of Neo being some constantly reincarnated chosen one deciding to end a cycle of this shit happening
The robots didn't even really do anything wrong, they just fought for rights and humanity chimped out HARD and nuked the planet into a hellscape
They didn't even HAVE to use humanity as batteries and did it out of some misguided attempt at atonement to their "fathers"
