Real life has many things with many individual cultures, food, music, books, movies, woodworking, cars, sex, etc, all of these are cultures in and of themselves. The subcultures are within those larger cultures. The mainstream is not a culture on its own, it is an encompassing list of the largest cultures which people can go into before going into the subcultures. There is no such thing as "mainstream mainstream culture" there is only "mainstream culture" as in a culture listed individually within the mainstream, not a culture of being mainstream.
