Death means nothing to a Catholic, it is simply a doorway to something much greater (if we earned it). Our Lord Jesus Christ conquered death through His sacrifice and resurrection. It is normal to grieve but we take comfort in the fact that death is not the end for Catholics, it is only the beginning.
We Catholics do not fear death, look at our catacombs, look at our skeleton Churches and Reliquaries, we revel in what is considered the macabre because death is transitory to us, it is not the end.
If we are good Catholics living in a state of Grace it is the eternal Kingdom of Heaven that awaits us, or for those of us who need a little cleansing we go to purgatory, where we will still reach Heaven but we first need a little purification (through fire). This is why we pray for the souls in purgatory so as to expedite their purification.
I hope you take comfort in these words Lia. God bless you.
Ill answer any questions if anyone has any
