Journalism as a profession (before it just became an outlet for the people it was meant to check) is pretty much FOUNDED on the human tendency to just blab on and on about shit even when not at threat of violence or deprivation.
People want to be in the right and they will talk themselves straight out of a job to maintain that illusion.
