Yeah. Sarevok in BG1 was pure fucking evil but between him and his "dad" they made a great set of evil characters without a shred of good in them. It made redeeming Sarevok in 2 all the more of a great option that leads to some of the best party banter.

I meant moreso from the ethical standpoint. I'll be honest, I don't think a lot of the kinds of criminals he killed, like murderers, etc, deserve a good life after what they do, in fact, I think death penalty would scare a lot of would-be murderers, terrorists, etc into not even trying, and it did well in that function historically. But the point is once he killed Raye, it was over for any sense of decency. Lind as well. Light became a monster in the pursuit of his ideal world and idea of godhood over that world. His eyes saw the world too black and white. A more level person in his position would have probably did their best to confirm a lot of the people who he killed did really need to go. His ideal would probably be for the best realistically and logically, but there are some criminals on death row who have killed out of circumstance, like say, frontier/vigilante justice when the justice system failed them. What some people might call terrorists might be freedom fighters to other people. But he started killing people who didn't deserve to die, because they got in the way of his ascension. He was ultimately corrupted by his ideal and not in the you have to break a few eggs way, but in the way a man who has tasted too much power is unwilling to let go of it. No one man has a perfect perspective, no one man is right about everything. He was better at first and justified, but he became truly evil.
