Reddit isn't one single culture at all, every subreddit has a very different userbase, just like boards, some overlaps exist (just like boards) but overall it's not some giant entity ready to take over your cute indie and change it forever, the more likely scenario is a few more viewer, maybe some memberships but that's about it.
