Same thing applies to the novel Idoru (1996, William Gibson), it predicted vTubers AFAIK: artificial Japanese idols, managed by agencies, using VR and holograms, no one knows what's real and what isn't

I'd say they're worth reading/listening to them because they were written in that previous world and because of this they can show us things that are transparent to us now. Like the difference between watching a movie being created and just going to the cinema one day and believing it's all true.
