Did the community get way worse recently or did i just not see it before?? I feel like nowadays 1 in 5 comments under any neuro content is funny, and the rest is gross, weird, mean, or all of the above. I noticed around the 2023 subathon, but it has certainly worsened as time goes on. In an effort to not just attack the people though, it can be hard to remember that we are watching and interacting with real people, not just watching a show or reading a book.
The nature of clipping content is that the things that get the most views also happen to be the most dramatic things that happen. Vedal and Neuro have been big for a while, but YouTube has contributed to a non-zero percentage of their growth, heck, it’s how I found them. I don’t think they do it on purpose, most of them at least. We just don’t think before we speak. We’re all a little guilty of it. I think some of the people just don’t adapt and keep expecting the same things they see in clips, and the streamers (for the sake of their livelihood) feel the need to accommodate for everyone, even if they do not agree with what they want.
I’ve also only seen Aquwa and Anny even speak out against the behavior directly, (though I did take a break from the internet for a while) and they both had very mixed responses from the community. Lots of people are against the changes, but not many, myself included, really want to fight about it or even acknowledge it, because it takes the fun out of our favorite streams. As such, I think the people who don’t realize the insensitivity of their words and those who do not care seem to speak louder than those who only want the content to continue to provide enjoyment to us and the streamers.
I don’t think many of them realize that they have begun or have been being insensitive. I think it is just an inevitability of human gatherings that some will sour the experience, and in many cases, those people will have a larger presence than the rest even if in actuality their numbers are smaller. I agree with you, but all of this is subjective at the end of the day.
