>>7482774I say this as the OP who wrote up the review, Ame is very clearly an "urban animal lover". She has pets, she loves her pets, and she cannot fathom harming an animal. She raised an impressive amount of money for no-kill shelters, which is extremely commendable, and I have no doubt her intentions are anything but pure.
But her outlook on animal treatment is very narrow. I was raised on a cattle ranch. We have our beloved dogs, cats, cows, equines, and pigs, but sometimes harsh reality comes at you, and animals simply have to be killed. Feral dog / coyote hybrids try to kill our calves and pups, so we shoot them dead without hesitation. It's their lives or the lives of our cattle. Elderly livestock have to be sold off and killed, elsewise they give birth to calves and cannot feed them colostrum, and then the calves simply die.
Ame doesn't see any animals as deserving of death. Any animal can be redeemed in her eyes. She comes from a noble mindset, but ultimately it's incorrect, and as we saw in this session, it would have resulted in disaster, had Calli not been there to bail her out.
Sorry for the tangent, I just felt the need to explore the psychological aspect Watoto's decision.
