Last night should have reinforced the fact that THEY ARE for any doubters out there. Not only are they clearly still close and still doing things off-stream, but they are so close they have to control themselves from going too far, else they reveal too much about their relationship.
Next point: Gura has now twice used the term "Cooties" when speaking to Ame, always referring to Ame herself.
>Cooties is a fictitious childhood disease, commonly represented as childlore. It is used in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the Philippines as a rejection term and an infection tag game (such as Humans vs. Zombies). It is similar to the British 'dreaded lurgi', and to terms used in the Nordic countries, in Italy, India and Iraq.[1] A child is said to "catch" cooties through close contact with an "infected" person or from an opposite-sex child of a similar age.
>A child is said to "catch" cooties through any form of bodily contact, proximity, or touching of an "infected" person or from a person of the opposite sex of the same age. Often the "infected" person is someone who is perceived as different, due to disability, shyness, being of the opposite sex, or having peculiar mannerisms.[13] The phrase is most commonly used by children in elementary school aged from four to 10; however, it may be used by older children in a sarcastic or playful way.[9] Sometimes the phrase specifies the type of cooties, as in "you've got girl cooties!" or "you've got boy cooties!" after a child has been touched by or in other ways interacted with a child of the opposite sex.
When you compare that to Gura's interactions with other girls, it's clear she sees Ame differently than the others. In Gura's stream previous to Apex, she spoke with Mori about chicken wings, and when these two discussed leaving meat on the bones, Gura easily said she would eat Mori's leftover chicken meat, which would involve ingesting Mori's leftover saliva.
At first glance, or to someone without a deep understanding of how /u/ works, this would likely point to a different result: that Gura is so in love with Mori she would eat her leftover meat off the bones, and that she is too standoffish with Ame to wear the same armor, or even have any physical contact at the risk of contracting her cooties.
But to those who can see the truth, the opposite is revealed. Gura is certainly close with Mori, enough so to share chicken wings, but one can easily attribute that to Gura's love for chicken and a comfort around Mori.
For Gura to think about cooties when speaking to Ame, there has to be a thought process with Ame that is different than the other girls. Why does Ame have cooties but Mori doesn't?
>"you've got girl cooties!"
Gura perceives Ame as a girl. While Gura is also a girl, she percieves things the way a 10 year old boy on a playground would. So in Gura's eyes, Ame is a member of the opposite sex, a love interest.
THEY ARE and they will continue to be
